| Welp Hubby and I many years ago was fishing in 61st Pier in Galveston one Saturday. We had been there for only a couple hours early one morning, things kinda slow, and about 25 or so nice *custom rods all baited up and set out for a hour or longer, and we all sitting in our chairs/coolers chatting, and just as the sun was coming up, a school of Jack Crevalle's come swimming through, and some of the SHOEMAKERS (as we call them) didn't have there drags set right, and then there goes one nice 10 foot rod flip overs the pier into the water, and then a reel goes off and a guy goes and hooks up nicely on his Jack Fish, and then there goes off another rod, with drag not set right, swoop over the pier, and 2 other reels going off and nicely hooked up. It was something else, we was excited and yet felt sorry for the SHOEMAKERS that didn't know to set there drags and lost there expensive Surf Rods. The look on there faces were Priceless!! Like as if, WHat The Heck Just Happened!! LMAO But there were some nice Large Jacks Caught thta morning!! Still makes me laugh thinking about it!!
